Seafoam Gaming Early November “Picking up the Pieces” Status Update

Well this took a while for me to get around to. I deleted the last “update” post, since it was more of a plea to vote rather than any actual site stuff, and well, we saw how that went. Lemme start off by saying that I’m equally terrified for the state of Women/LGBT rights as are most of my readers, and I will stand up for those rights regardless. That’s part of my next big opinion piece, and will still be, even if I do plan to rewrite parts of it. (more in a lil bit)

But with me picking up my mental health and growing a community, (Hi, Bluesky follows! Hi, new IRL friends!) I figured now was the time to make a proper status update on SFG reviews. Lots to catch up with and work on, so let’s get back to my focus for the end of year article output!

Review Queue Resumes

After a bit of a delay due to uh *points at everything* My review queue is back on track. Focus is back to newer stuff as those stockpiled for a bit, but I’m still working away at Deadly Premonition and Disaster Report. I truly do hope you understand if I put off DR for a bit later though, considering my mental health and all. Either way, non Morgana Switch titles look to be set to be fully reviewed before 2024 ends.

I also have two non Switch games on the newer side of things in the queue, in the form of Card-En-Ciel for Steam. That’ll take a bit since I got really distracted from playing it due to recent events, but with free updates coming soon + my focus regaining, I’ll be chipping away at it to get out by the end of the month. I also have Rocket Panda on queue for the Genesis, but that’s a lesser priority and one that’s more casual to chip away at. TLDR, I have a bit of a queue that’s not my legacy stuff, but I’m on track to get that whittled down quickly. Tomorrow I plan to get a review put out for the last Aero the Acrobat reissue, so we’re already on good pace.

The big LRG article. Yes, it’s coming.

Read the above.

But yeah. Planned to be done in Sept, then Oct, then ??!? due to the election stress, I’m now on pace to… get it done before the end of 2024. Sorry if that sounds like a copout, but both newer developments and desired rewrites have me shifting the focus of the article a little bit.

For full transparency, I planned to make a huge section breaking down disappointment in LRG pretty much ignoring the LGBT community when it came to an incident that happened nearly two years ago, and how even now it seems that incident gave a lot of toxic people the means to have ammo to dunk on the company for very stupid reasons compared to the many, many valid ones. However, recent observations+ events made me realize focusing on that for tons of paragraphs as I planned to do wouldn’t really make much difference, and a lot of that stuff was years ago on a social media platform known for rewarding toxicity, bigotry and outrage bait. Why give em ammo and refuel those flames, and risk putting people in risk? It also seems apparent that even the bad actor crowd finally got bored of the LRG stuff, which kinda amazes me, but I suppose that’s what being fixated on a terribly toxic culture war will get you. Thus, I don’t wanna risk reflaming those tensions and putting LGBT people in danger.

Make no mistake; there’s still tons of critique and lots I will still be focusing on. Bad QC, bad treatment of partners/other higher ups at the company, and a weird shift into becoming a glorified dumping ground for third party publishers that may just end up weakening physical media as a whole. It’ll take a long while to word it right and for me to express my thoughts without it being too much of a rambly/negative mess, but I really do want to reiterate I write my limprint critiques out of love for collectibles and physical media, and thus, these companies need to do better. Hell, they may not have a choice, if tariffs have their way soon. Hope they’re ready for that.

Twitch Time…?

I hinted at this in the past, but with recent events and me wanting to expand a community, I’m debating going back to Twitch streaming in my free time. I’m still very new to it and would mostly use the Xbox’s stream tool, but it would be a fun way to kill time and work on my non review backlog. I don’t expect to post updates on when I’m live on SFG or anything, and the streams would be 18+ due to discussions/Game types played, but if you like seeing retro or retro inspired games getting played, feel free to follow me on Twitch in the meantime.

And with all that, I have my status update. Anxiety continues, I wish I didn’t have to worry like I did years ago, but I’m also not gonna let this derail me like losing my best friend did years ago. I have to keep going for his sake and the sake of my readers, and for the sake of continuing to support LGBT rights. Casual reminder I do have a ko-fi if you wanna support my content, but I’m gonna refrain from plugging it much until my LRG article is finished up. Until (very soon), take care!)
