Title: My Style Studio: Notebook
System: Wii U (eShop)
Release date: 3/12/2015
The main game
Part of the My Style series of games by Cypronia, this entry simply has you writing whatever you want in your own notebook! That’s pretty much it.
Overall, the presentation looks decent at best, with all of your needed tools being easy to identify and access, without the interface being too much of a hassle. Included as a fun bonus is the ability to use the Wii U Gamepad Camera to take a picture to put on your notebook! Not much to say about the graphics considering how you pretty much are the graphic designer in this game, so like in SDK Paint and Art Academy Sketchpad, your artistic skill is the main focus.
Music and Sound:
A simple, cheery tune plays in the background as you work. Again, like I mentioned earlier the main focus of the game isn’t about music (this isn’t Mario Paint), so it’s fine that it’s simplistic.
With many colors and tools at your disposal, this app can be used for many things. You can be super precise and use the pages to make a wonderful flipnote animation, you can write down your thoughts on it, draw a simple doodle… Honestly it does just as it advertises, and since it works, it’s that simple. If you are the artistic type and you want to have an application on your Wii U that is affordable, this should fit your requirements.
In conclusion, My Style Studio: Notebook is a Notebook. It does mostly everything you’d expect out of an application like this, and that’s pretty much it. Like with SDK paint, whether it’ll be enjoyable or not is up to the player to decide. If you like drawing in notebooks and don’t prefer the big, massive canvas of SDK Paint and Art Academy, this will be perfect for you. If you don’t like drawing at all, however, then this won’t change your mind. I think it fits the intended target audience of young girls well, and I do recommend it for everyone else who may want to use a digital notebook for whatever reason considering how it’s only $2.99 (Which is cheaper than SDK Paint and Art Academy!) I give My Style Studio: Notebook a 6 out of 10 and recommend it to anyone looking for a digital notebook app for an affordable price, as it does exactly as advertised.
Thanks to Cypronia games for the review code.
