Seafoam Gaming January 2025 Status Update

Hello everyone! It’s been a while. Well, more like a full week, but still, I haven’t posted much to the site in the month of January, and if you know me well enough you could probably guess a sore spot on why. Every year, my birthday always invites in some extra tension, and well, last week was a more anxiety-inducing week in the US.

Well with that over, I can say I’ve managed to take some more mental health steps to screw my head back on and resume writing work again, so last week ended up being a bit of a vacation for me; I do sincerely apologize yet again for the lack of content this month, (with only two short reviews and a big opinion piece this month, so far) especially with my previously noted plans to work on my review queue that didn’t work out so well this month. Regardless, I hope to have that getting better soon, so let’s break down the incoming round of content!

Reviews Are Back!

Not that I intentionally wanted to stop reviewing things, but with extreme anxiety, it gets pretty tough to focus on such a thing. Still, I have a sequence for how to slowly ramp up my writing and try to manage it with my IRL job again, so let’s go through those plans.

Still up as the lone, newer Switch game on the review queue is Clock Tower Rewind, which I’ve been dabbling more in lately during my absence; I don’t have an ETA for this, since I’m trying to push around with the game more to see if it ends up unraveling or having bugs like prior Carbon Engine releases, but once I’m confident in my thoughts on the game and ready to cover it, you’ll see it go live on the website! Then I can finally get back to those bigger Switch Legacy Queue games, with Deadly Premonition and Mary Skelter back in my sight to get those finally finished up, so we can move onto that PS4 Queue.

But what about newer games? Well don’t worry, we have a few of those on Steam as well. One of which is a fun compilation I should have covered this very week! The other is a rather interesting remake, which I will try to get out early next week. Otherwise, we just have the usual Evercade reviews I’ll drip out every now and again, and yep, that includes hardware reviews for the Evercade EXP-R and Evercade Alpha. We’re gonna get pretty busy, even if the quantity of reviews per week will still be pretty low. I hope you continue to still enjoy my writings!

Site Logo Brainstorming Underway!

Yep, the ever-delayed site logo and revamp I wanna do for SFG is still in the works! Recently I made plans for a friend of mine to help give me feedback on the rough sketch ideas I have for a new SFG logo, before I give it to my artist pal to turn into a full blown commission. I really struggle with ideas on the perfect logo, which is a big factor in me being rather slow on this promised site logo revamp. But with an extra pair of eyes from an art pal, I feel more confident I’ll make the breakthrough I need to get to make the perfect new logo to finally retire the silly Yu-Gi-Oh bird one once and for all.

No exact ETA yet; like I mentioned last time, I didn’t want to give another ETA and end up missing it again, but rest assured, it still is on my mind, and I still do want to keep working on this whenever I possibly can.

And yes, more articles

I keep saying it and it remains true. LRG Part 3 is still underway. I’m being hyper careful to word it just right and not have it sport any major, glaring flaws along the wrong. Just with this temporary hiatus I took, I needed time to clear my head before I finish the skeleton of it and get to work on polishing it for full release. Yet again, I can’t promise any new ETAs on such a thing; but rest assured, I am hard at work on it, and still have those other smaller articles planned on other topics once the LRG piece is done. The Better eShop piece was a nice little stepping stone for me to warm back up into those long-form writings, and I do hope you stick around to read my opinion pieces in the months to come. I promise they won’t all be spicy!

Conclusion

So yeah, TLDR: I had to take a hiatus for my mental health, and thus wasn’t able to work on reviews at all as a result. But, I’m slowly gaining my groove and focus back, (thanks, AppBlock and Screen Time!) and hope to still maintain the ability to write reviews and other game writing pieces for years to come. We are almost at our 11th year of reviewing, after all! (And nearly ten of the SFG site name)

So once again, I thank you for your support; just figured I’d pop in to let you know that no, my low output this month was not intentional, and that yes, I’ll keep trying my best to maintain a healthy output of writing regardless of my anxieties. I feel we all are dealing with them right now, so I apologize for that.
