Title: DON’T CRASH
System: Wii U (eShop)
Price: $1.49
Release date: 07/09/2015
The main game/story
In his simplest game yet, you take control of a blue car and avoid crashing into the other car. That’s the entire concept of this game, nothing more to it.
Graphics
A very basic 2D art style, even more basic compared to the other games that were published by RCMADIAX. (Not counting Version 1.0 of Blok Drop U) The game logo looks nice and the backgrounds do change with every replay, but that’s as much variety as you’ll see.
Music and Sound:
There’s one song that plays throughout the entire game, similar to the other games by the same publisher. While it isn’t as irritating as it was in Blok Drop U or Spikey Walls, it’s still not a good idea to have one song loop endlessly during such a short game like this.
Gameplay
The main goal of this game is told to you in the title; Don’t Crash! That’s all you do. Using the A button you switch between two lanes to avoid crashing into the other car, and the more laps you do without crashing the more points you get. You do extra points if you switch right before a collision, but besides that the entire game is just timing a button press as the difficulty increases over time. It’s not a bad thing that it’s meant for high scores, but when it’s the only mode in the entire game and the difficulty gets insane after scoring 10 points it ends up feeling like an incredibly short experience. In fact it’s so shallow that the PR pictures included in this review show you what the entire game is like so look at those pictures if you want to see what I mean.
(Note in the future: During transfer, in order to save time and space I could only keep the thumbnail.)
Conclusion
In conclusion to what will likely be the shortest review I’ll ever write, DON’T CRASH reveals everything about this game in the title. Even for high-score fans like myself, $1.49 is way too much to ask for this game and you should not buy it at that price. Heck, even if it does go on sale the fact that this game doesn’t have much to it at all makes me insist that you just check out his other games like Blok Drop X Twisted Fusion or Shut the Box instead, since they give a much better value for their price tags. For a port of a simple game, it’s disappointing to see that there’s barely any variety in this game.
I give DON’T CRASH a 3 out of 10.
