Seafoam Gaming October Status Update

Oh yeah, more free time, more focus (when I sleep well), and more note taking. That leads to easier and more frequent status updates! Helps to keep in touch and let devs/readers know I’m not dead if I don’t post many reviews in a week.

So for October stuff, I don’t have too much big news to say considering last month was the big project. My move went well, and I’ve been getting back into a work/work balance. I got a few recent shorter reviews done recently, along with my long overdue Stick it to The Man review, which I’m very proud of. I also covered the surprise hit Bit. Trip RERUNNER, which is almost certainly gonna land on my GOTY list at the current rate the year’s going, barring some shadowdrop from M2 or Digital Eclipse that may get me hyped up again.

So what’s next on the list? Well, I’ve been resuming note taking for Arcade Spirits, started playing Maravilla Island from the Xbox queue to take advantage of the 4K TV I now have, and have dabbled in some arcadey stuff and even the Project EGG Console release of Relics PC88 to review as quick free time reviews. RCG2 is being chipped away at slowly but surely but the whole road of that game is so much of a bumpy path I may make that way longer than it has every right to be. Fuga 2 is still on my nearterm plans to focus on, but I wanna tackle the smaller games from the switch queue before I binge that one since I know it’ll be a multi week endeavor to review properly.

I’ve also been bouncing between the Citizens double pack I took some recent notes for, (mostly on the Earth portion, which is basically pre-written, too! Space I just need to spend time now that it’s fixed, which was the reason I didn’t review it in the launch window back then, oops) and debating going with NEO ATLAS or The Fall next. Those are some long overdue games as well but The Fall has intrigued me for years, yet I somehow never found the focus for it. Really, the plan for now until the end of the year with queue priority is Xbox > Steam > Switch until the former two are done or near done, and then Switch > PS4, since most of my PS4 backlog are long games, save for Omensight and Valthrian Arc, which are still the two reviews that were nearly finished before my data crash that I had to retake my notes for. Argh. Still, Xbox has a light at the end of the tunnel, as when Maravilla is done this month, I just have Nongunz and that’s literally it. No more Xbox games on the queue afterward!

Post Arcade Spirits, Steam just has Fuga 2 and an adventure game I was sent years ago, which I am really just covering because I redeemed the key back then, forgot and I never ever want to go undelivered with a game I redeem, so better late than never for that. I also looked through my Steam Library and while I had the adventure game on the queue for years, I think two old ports of IFI games I got sent on a whim without requesting them directly were redeemed and I never covered those, despite me swearing that I did one of them already, and I don’t even remember getting those games from PR: Whichever the case, if I got a code sent, I redeemed them, so thus, I’m reviewing them even if it’s long overdue and slipped my mind entirely.

Mary Skelter Finale is also a IFI one I need to get to on Switch, which is funny/sad considering how I finally covered the first one after a big gap, asked for the sequel before a big vacation, only to end up getting distracted taking notes on a side game within the game before touching the main actual game… (If you own MSF, you know what I mean) Still, I’ll consider TSIOQUE the current end of the steam queue until I check those two IFI PC games out further to see if I got them myself from a bundle or from PR years ago. (I almost thought Top Nep was a game I requested, since it’s akin to Neptunia Shooter, but I did indeed buy that one, so I won’t review it. It’s a way better game than Shooter though, and I liked that one a good bit!)

But with two queues almost done (Xbox certain to be finished this month, and Steam by the end of next month), I think my goal of clearing the SFG queue before the end of 2023 is still on track. As long as nothing derails me again, that is. (or a life changing interview doesn’t fall into my lap again) I’m pretty excited to talk about what I have in mind after the queue is finally done, so I hope you look forward to it! I also plan for a YT update video to go out this month to talk about my video plans after the queue is done, and I’ll make a post here when that is ready.
